When it comes to immersive, adventure-packed travel, few experiences rival a camper van road trip through Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. Our recent trip through these iconic landscapes perfectly showcased how a well-planned adventure can create memories to last a lifetime.

Day 1: Arrival & Preparing for Adventure

Our journey kicked off with a flight into Salt Lake City, where we picked up our Camper rental—our home on wheels for the next several days. Stocking up on essentials at a nearby grocery store ensured we were ready to hit the road without interruptions. After a comfortable overnight stay at our Airport Hotel, we were refreshed and ready to embark on our road trip!

Days 2-5: Exploring Zion National Park

A scenic drive led us to our first destination: Zion National Park, where we camped at Watchman Campground, nestled beneath towering sandstone cliffs. Our days were spent hiking Angels Landing (for the daring), exploring The Riverside Trail (sadly the Narrows were too high), canyoning in East Zion, and soaking in the breathtaking views of Zion Canyon. Evenings were reserved for campfire dinners, stargazing, and relaxing under the desert sky. Having a camper van made it easy to explore at our own pace, with the flexibility to start early before the crowds arrived.

Days 6-7: Bryce Canyon’s Hoodoos & Hiking Trails

From Zion, we continued our journey to Bryce Canyon National Park. The landscape transformed from Zion’s sheer cliffs to Bryce’s stunning amphitheater of hoodoos—otherworldly rock formations sculpted by nature. We hiked Navajo Loop & Queens Garden Trail, taking in panoramic views of the vibrant red rock formations along the way. One of the highlights of our Bryce experience was an unforgettable horseback riding tour down into the canyon, offering a unique perspective of the towering hoodoos and dramatic cliffs. Bryce’s high elevation brought a shift in temperature, making our cozy camper the perfect retreat after long days of adventure.

Day 8: The Journey Back

After one last morning hike, we made our way back toward Salt Lake City, stopping for a final night in Mystic Springs, a unique and peaceful campground to wrap up our adventure. The next morning, we returned our camper van and flew home, exhausted yet exhilarated by the beauty and freedom of the road.
